John 12:1-8
Jesus is in Bethany. Here we see Jesus in the presence of old friends. He’s in the home of Simon the leper.
Mark 14:3
If you know anything about leprosy, it’s a disease that is contagious that will cause your body to literally rot. So first of all, you wouldn’t be eating at a leper’s house unless the leper had been healed. The fact that they were at Simon’s house points to his healing. Simon literally owed his life to his guest.
Another guest was Lazarus. In the previous chapter, Lazarus was in the tomb. Can you imagine Simon and Lazarus sitting around trying to top each other? But notice… each of these people had been touched by Jesus, and each worshipped Him. Worship is the center of the Christian life.
