What Shall I Do With Jesus

Matthew 27:11-26

There are decisions that WILL impact us beyond this life on Earth. There are things on Earth we can do, or not do, that will impact us for eternity.

In verse 22, Pilate asks the question, “What shall I do then with Jesus?” The consequences to the way you answer that question will affect you for eternity.

You see, in this day, the religious leaders were allowed to have some limited form of government. There was a Jewish high court called the Sanhedrin. There were Jewish leaders and judges, but their power was limited. The Sanhedrin didn’t have the power to order execution. So they had to take Jesus to Pilate.

Pilate also knew that if he didn’t deal harshly enough with Jesus, the religious leaders would go around him to Caesar. They would tell Caesar that Pilate was being too lenient.
