Mark 5:21-34
This story is in Matthew, Mark, and Luke.
Jesus was returning from the other side of Galilee, only to find himself greeted by a multitude of people. They had heard of the ministry of Christ and miracles He’d been performing.
Just then, off in the distance, we notice another man making his way through the crowd He’s not cheering as the others. It appears he is weeping. Then it happened. He made his way to where he could see Jesus. He ran and fell down at the Master’s feet.
Have you noticed how certain situations in life will bring you to the point where your only hope is to fall down at the feet of the Savior? He began to weep uncontrollably. As Jesus looked down, He noticed it was Jairus, a ruler in the synagogue. Jairus pleaded with Him to come lay His hand on his 12 year old daughter. He believed if Jesus would just touch her, she would live. When Jairus called on Jesus, He wasn’t too busy to meet his need. As they were making their way, the people crowded around Jesus, trying to hear what He was saying.
There was a woman at a distance afar off in the crowd. She began to move through the crowd. She was very small and very weak. She’d been to all the doctors and had spent all the money she had with no success. She had nowhere else to go. She was supposed to be isolated because she was considered to be unclean. She thought Jesus wouldn’t touch her because she was unclean.
This woman was determined. If she could just touch the hem of His garment, she’d be healed. She pressed through the crowd.
