2 Kings 4:8-26
If it weren’t for moms, you wouldn’t be here.
If it weren’t for moms, we also wouldn’t hear things like:
- I’m gonna give you til the count of 3.
- “I don’t know” is NOT an answer.
- I’m not running a taxi service.
- Someday your face will freeze like that.
- If it was a snake, it would bite you.
- Quiet down! I can’t hear myself think.
- You want me to give you something to cry about?
- Don’t look at me with those eyes.
- If you fall and break your neck, you’re getting a spanking.
Mothers spend two years teaching their kids to walk and talk. Then they spend 16 years telling them to sit down and shut up.
Recipe for a Momma
- The first ingredient of a momma is a good character – A good momma has integrity.
- The second ingredient is a generous portion of hospitality.
- 1 Peter 4:9 says “Use hospitality one to another without grudging.”
- When Amber and I started dating, it wasn’t long before she took me to meet her mamaw. And nothing would do except she fixed me something to eat. It was this mamaw that showed Amber how to cook much of what she cooks for me nowadays.
- The third ingredient of a momma is spiritual discernment – she must be saved.
- You will never be a good momma without the Lord’s help.
- 1 Corinthians 2:15 says, “A spiritual man judges all things.” A saved person looks at everything to see if it’s worldly or Godly.
