Joshua 3:1-17
Moses was dead. Aaron was dead. Now Joshua is Israel’s new leader. If you will remember, the Israelites had spent 430 years in Egypt (30 good years and 400 years in slavery). Moses led them out of Egypt. Pharaoh pursued them, and God miraculously parted the Red Sea, delivering them from Pharaoh.
Then the Israelites wound up spending 40 years wandering in the desert (40 years complaining). A journey that should’ve taken eleven days wound up taking 40 years. Can you imagine almost three million people just wandering around?
The Bible tells us that God provided and met all of their needs. Their clothes never wore out, their sandals never wore out, and every time they were hungry, God sent food. Manna may not have been what they always wanted, but God met their need.
