Jeremiah 6:16
Jeremiah is writing to Judah. He was urging God’s people to turn from their sins and turn back to God. God was warning them through Jeremiah that they were standing at a crossroads.
The church today is in the same condition. Israel had become lazy and complacent in their devotion to God. Israel was free to choose, and they chose to rebel. God urged them to return to their “old path,” but they sought prophets who would tickle their ears and tell them all was well.
Verse 14
They were seeking those who would tell them what they wanted to hear. We find this today.
2 Timothy 4:3
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.”
