Luke 17:11-19
Jesus is on His way to Jerusalem. There is an important truth about this verse. When Luke says “He was on His way to Jerusalem,” he wants us to know He was on His way to the cross.
Jesus is on His way and travels between the borders of Samaria and Galilee. There He meets ten men who have leprosy.
As Jesus approached these men, they began to yell to Jesus. When someone had leprosy, they were to leave their town because leprosy was very contagious. Most doctors believe it is now what is called Hansen’s disease. It starts with a white patch of skin that becomes numb. The patch begins to spread all over the body and often manifests itself on the face. So the disease is impossible to hide.
None of us have leprosy, but it is an exact description of a disease we were all born with – sin. We were all born with a sinful nature. I got mine from my parents, who got it from their parents, all the way back to Adam and Eve.
You may feel healthy today, but if you don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, there is a terrible cancer growing in your soul. Sin will get a hold on you and will grow when you don’t even realize it.
