Are You Letting the Lord Direct Your Path?

Proverbs 3:1-7

Trust in God even when you don’t understand. You may not always understand everything, but trust that God’s in control.

Numbers 22:1-13

The children of Israel were poised to enter the promised land. Balak, the king of Moab, had heard about Israel. He had seen what they were capable of, and he was scared. He saw that when Israel would come against the Moabites, Israel would outnumber them and overtake them. Balak went to Midian to form an alliance with them. Look how Balak described Israel. The king sought to curse and defeat Israel by pagan sorcery. He sent for one of the famous diviners, or psychics, Balaam.

Remember that Balaam is a psychic, and more than anything, a con-man. Balaam told them to wait that night while he sought the direction of God, but I bet he was shocked when God answered him. God told Balaam not to go with Balak and curse the Israelites. Balaam had to choose. He had God on one side and Balak on the other.

Balak then sent his most honorable and most popular men to offer Balaam money to go with them. But Balaam tells them there’s nothing worth disobeying God. Remember God had already revealed His will. He knew what God wanted him to do, but he told them to spend the night just in case God would change His mind. When he should’ve said, “get the behind me satan,” he said, “tarry here.”

Remember getting out of God’s will is a gradual process. Remember Lot pitched his tent toward Sodom before he moved there.
