Colossians 3:12-24
The curse of the 21st century is “Sunday morning religion.” Too many people come to church out of habit. We come to church out of habit to worship, but instead of coming to church to worship, we should bring our worship to church. We set aside a day to come to church, but when you’re right with God, every day is holy, every act is to be sacred, everything we do we should do to the glory of God.
When you’re saved, you’re supposed to look different.
2 Corinthians 6:17 says, “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”
In Colossians, Paul has just told them things to quit as Christians. He says it in a way that sounds like changing clothes. Before you were saved, you were known to live and talk a certain way. You sounded and looked like that because you were being led by the devil. When you got saved, it was a radical change. Your life needs to show a radical change. You need to do your best to look as much like Christ as you can.
As a Christian, as I’ve taken off the clothing of satan, I am to put on a new clothing.
- Mercy (put on the garment of mercy, compassion, tenderheartedness
- Kindness
- Humility
- Meekness
- Long-suffering (patience)
- Forbearance (vs 13)
- Forgiveness
Forgiveness is the piece of clothing we have a big problem squeezing into.
