Luke 2:22-35
In this passage, Christ is only forty days old, and Simeon is near the end of his life. Simeon had been waiting for this moment.
Do you ever have to wait? I read an article about how we spend our time. Assuming you live to the average life expectancy here in the U.S., which is upper 70s, you’ll spend your time as follows.
- Four years in a vehicle
- Two and a half years cooking
- Twenty-five years sleeping
- Ten years clocked in at work
The article also said that women may spend two years in the bathroom, which I think means men may spend two years waiting on the bathroom.
Simeon knew how to wait. He was righteous and devout, which shows that even good people have to wait.
After you get saved, you’ll find that you have a lot to learn, and one of those things you’ll learn is how to wait.
Proverbs 3:5
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
But often if we can’t see what is going on or understand, we give up and quit. If we think we call the shots, we’ll find out that’s right up there with waiting in traffic or waiting at the doctor’s office. We’re not in control of this life.
Waiting on God requires trusting in God.
